Surface Support Training

Surface support plays a crucial role behind the scenes, ensuring that diving operations run smoothly and safely. It is an essential aspect that should not be taken lightly, as it complements the diver's preparation and planning to deliver a safe and memorable diving experience.

In the UK, surface support is a mandatory requirement for instructional dives, and finding surface support can be challenging. Here at Maritime Innovations, we think that all dives would benefit from properly trained diving supervisors delivering quality shore support.

Our course is designed to prepare you to take on this vital role, whether individually, providing support to an instructor, or as part of a larger support team on a diving expedition or dive trip.

Diving is cool, and divers are even cooler, however, have you ever wondered who:

  • Takes those captivating photos of divers on the surface or entering the water, helping them look effortlessly cool?
  • Assists tired divers out of the water or throws the life-saving ring in emergencies?
  • Helps divers with their gear, both in and out of the water?
  • Is the first responder in a diver emergency?
  • Keeps the preparation area tidy and ready for the next dive?
  • Ensures cylinders are fully charged for the next dive?
  • Watches over your kit while you're underwater?
  • Manages all the paperwork for diving groups?
  • Tracks who is in the water, when they are due to surface and where they are diving?
  • Prepares tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and biscuits or cake for when you return from your dive?

That's right: the surface support team
